Who built PawListed
Xiujun Ma
Founder & Operator
Xiujun (pronounced "shoe-june") launched PawListed after struggling to find a trustworthy, locally-vetted list of pet services when his own dog needed a specialist. The directory started as a single spreadsheet of SLC pet businesses and grew into the site you're reading.

Our mission
Make it easy for every Salt Lake City pet owner to find a trusted groomer, veterinarian, trainer, or boarding facility — and to know, before they walk in the door, whether that business is the right fit for their animal.
Why we started
Recommendations from friends are great, but what if you're new to the area or need a specialist at 11pm on a Sunday? The pet-services landscape in Salt Lake City is fragmented — no single place to compare credentials, prices, hours, and what other pet owners actually experienced. PawListed is that place.
How we verify businesses
We take trust seriously. Here's the process every PawListed listing goes through:
- Business registration check:Every listing is matched against the Utah Division of Corporations' business registry and cross-referenced with Google Business Profile, Yelp, and the operator's own website before publication.
- Certification badges: We display verified third-party certifications — AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association), AAFP Cat Friendly Practice, CPDT-KA, CDBC, KPA-CTP, Fear Free, NCMG, NDGAA, Thera-Clean — directly on the listing. Badge claims are validated against the issuing body where possible.
- Owner verification: Business owners can claim their listing to confirm they operate the business, respond to reviews, and update their profile in real time.
- Review integrity: Reviews require a PawListed account, are tied to a single business per account, and are screened for spam patterns before publication. PawListed does not allow businesses to delete or pay to remove negative reviews.
- Editorial process for content: Pet-care articles are written by our editorial team and reviewed by a veterinarian when they touch on health, nutrition, or recalls. Sources are linked at the bottom of each article.
